THE OBJECTIVES OF THE ASSOCIATION
a. Advocacy for civil rights and action against caste-ethnicity based atrocities towards SC/ST employees
b. Conducting outreach program for awareness on reservation facilities, grievance redressal and action against different types of violations
c. Looking after the implementation of reservation and service safeguard policy for and conducting awareness programs in the field of reservation policy for employees
d. Spreading information about changing issues of rules and regulations and relevant act related to reservation policy
e. Promotion of political consciousness and cultural awareness of the SC/ST employees through seminars, workshops and debate programmes
f. Keeping communication with the National Commission of Scheduled Castes and the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes for updating of knowledge
g. Facilitating knowledge exchange programs with other organizations on different issues, conducting round table meetings
h. Establishment and running of a Research and Development Centre by the members for the enrichment of SC/ST employees with prior permission from the competent authority and without profit motive
i. Publication of books, journals or seminar proceedings; Sending project proposals to Government agencies and Non-Government agencies with prior permission from the competent authority and without profit motive.
j. Promotion of the knowledge of science and technology through programmes with youth with prior permission from the competent authority and without profit motive
k. Strengthening the youth of the society through various cultural activities like drama, creative writing, song, debate, painting, etc. at different institutions
l. Taking initiatives for abolishing practices like untouchability, atrocities, superstitions, etc., for cultural assimilation
m. Promoting awareness programmes on agriculture, cultivation, and fishing for SC/ST Societies
n. Encouraging awareness on health, hygiene, education, professional health hazards, and psychological conditions among the SC/ST population of rural, slum and urban areas through necessary outreach programmes
o. Distributing free medicines and relief among the needy people especially in remote areas during untoward situations
p. Assistance towards affected SC/ST students due to natural calamities or unforeseen hazards

MEMBERS ARE WORKING FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF SC & ST
MEMBERSHIP
I. General Members: Teachers/Officers of the Jadavpur University, Kolkata who belong to SC/ST Community only, qualified to be a member and paying prescribed general membership fees and recurring subscriptions may be admitted as General Members of the Association. The General Member can continue his/her/them/it membership after his/her/them/it retirement/resignation with submission of Annual Subscriptions.
II. Special Invitee Members: Any person, whose connection with the Association is deemed to be useful, may with the consent of such person be selected as a Special Invitee Member of the Association. This type of membership will be given as and when required for the Association and the Governing Body is the sole power authority to permit and cancel the same. Such members shall not, however, be eligible to be members of the Governing Body or other any Committee or body not shall be entitled to vote in any meeting/election.
